Ms. Svati Bhogle holds a master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. She then developed a strong interest in technology for development, an area that she worked in for over two decades.
When working for the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, she was initially involved in research on the development of fuel efficient biomass based stoves and dryers, for a variety of applications. She has also contributed to several projects that have explored entrepreneurship models for sustainable technology dissemination.
In 2006, she was nominated for the Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award, jointly with Dr. S. Rajagopalan.
