Social Environmental Impact

A Triple Bottom Line Company

All Sustaintech products were designed to have certain common features:
They are all highly efficient and generate at least 30% in fuel savings for the end user;
They do not change in anyway the user's cooking habits;
They all have chimneys and temperature isolation hence are smokeless and prevent the cook from getting burned.

This way, by selling it's products, not only is Sustaintech generating profits but also positive social and environmental impact. Sustaintech measures it's impact through 4 key indicators:

1. Deforestation reduction Wood Truck

Because the products are fuel efficient, they demand from 30% to 50% less firewood to be operated. Less firewood demanded, less trees have to be cut. Every product saves between 7 and 20 tons of firewood per year.

2. Carbon emissions reductions Smoke

Less firewood burned, less carbon released in to atmosphere. On average our products avoid that 4 tons of CO2 are emitted to the atmosphere every year. After the first seven years of the company, we aim at having reduced 4 million tons of CO2 being liberated on the atmosphere.

3. Money saved by the micro entrepreneur Cook

Every ton of firewood costs Rs. 2000. Every product saves between 7 and 20 tons of firewood per year, or Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 40,000 per year to the customer.
During first seven years of the company, we aim at achieving a compound saving of 5 billion rupees.

4. Health Impact

The 65,000 fuel efficient wood burning stoves (considering only the Tava, Frying Stoves and Tea Boilers) that would be sold by Sustaintech in the first five years would therefore offer a safer, cooler and healthier working environment to at least 65,000 cooks and 6.5 million people who would eat around these stoves every day.
India has a high incidence of respiratory ailments and a smoke free working environment would greatly reduce the medical expenses of the affected people working around wood fires.
